This project, for a new mixed-use development comprising rental homes, a restaurant and co-working space, is located in the Bridgeland, a neighbourhood northeast of Downtown Calgary. It is bound to the South by the Bow River, to the east by Deerfoot Trail, to the West by Edmonton Trail, and to the North by the community of Renfrew. The name "Bridgeland" came into use as a result of the Dominion Bridge Company operating nearby.
Calgarian Verandas: The design concept is inspired by the verandas found in traditional Calgarian timber houses, which are generous, sheltered private outdoor terraces designed as an extension of the interior. These spaces provide an additional room for the apartments where social life can thrive. The verandas function as areas to sit, gather, eat, and enjoy the views, all while being sheltered from the weather.
Reflective Skin: The facades are clad with reflective metal as a nod to the former Dominion Bridge Steel Company. The reflective metal mirrors the constantly changing colors and patterns of the sky as they naturally fluctuate throughout the days and seasons.
Live, Work, Play, Relax: The aim of the development is to create a people-focused environment where residents can live, work, play, and relax without needing to rely on cars. The podium rooftop, offering stunning views of the parks and downtown beyond, is sheltered from harsh winds and planted with lush gardens, grassy mounds, and flower prairies. The podium also features multiple social spaces, including BBQ areas, sundecks, a playground, a yoga zone, a gym, pet grooming rooms, a cinema room, and more for residents to engage collectively.
The building will serve as a new local landmark, signaling a new standard of living for Bridgeland and highlighting a bright future ahead.
